So today I parted with the great capital city of Cheyenne and headed northwest to Casper, WY. As I started my trek, I began noticing mountains to my west. I called Alex to tell him about this excitement (yes, I had service! Weirdly enough, I had gained service seemingly within seconds of driving across the border from NE to WY before getting to Cheyenne.) He looked up where I was on the map and informed me the Sawtooth Mountains were what I was seeing to my left. I later heard Casperians call them Casper Mountain as well. These are my first mountain sightings!
I'm looking forward to learning about Casper. For some reason, their gas prices are $.50 lower than any gas I have seen this whole trip, including other parts of Wyoming. It is currently at $3.62 when other places are well into the $4 range. Why is it so much cheaper? HOW is it so much cheaper? I find the variability of gas prices so interesting. Within one street, the prices can change by the cent; within one city, they can change by the quarter; and within one state, they can change by the dollar. There are probably several factors as to why Casper's gas has been cheaper than Cheyenne's, Sundance's, Moorcroft's and Gilette's. My goal is to find out why.
I'm pretty excited about this rather unique upcoming stay. The hotel is built to look like a riverboat. You should probably know: I'm a sucker for boats.
