After yesterday's hike, my body had had enough. Though I fell asleep early, I woke up still feeling like I could use a day to recharge. I opted to not go on Alex's hike we planned on doing today and instead found a shorter trail to walk and spent some of the day at the Jackson Lake Lodge soaking up the free wifi (our place's wifi range did not include our room). It was nice to spend the day doing what we each wanted, even if it was separate.
We came back together and, after showers, decided to head back into the town of Jackson for some dinner. Jackson, WY is a typical ski town, much like Bozeman, MT, where one can tell it has a lot of money circulating as it just seems a little too nice. Though there is probably a huge influx of out-of-towners, it isn't touristy like West Yellowstone. Art galleries, cute restaurants and furniture stores all line the grid-like streets of downtown. I have never seen so many art galleries! In fact, I had found out that there was an art crawl as part of some art expo they were hosting. Several of the participating art galleries in the town were hosting open houses complete with wine and finger foods. It was a fancy event and we decided we wanted to be fancy. So we walked to several galleries, mostly looking for the free snacks and drinks, but also admiring some of the art. It was at times challenging to strike the balance between we are here for the free offerings and wanting to be respectable art gallery enthusiasts. Though several pieces caught our eye, the prices made our eyes pop. And they say becoming an artist doesn't pay!
