Day Forty Nine: Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You

I had already begun my research process when the whole mess began with Orbitz. I had already found things I wanted to see and do in Great Falls. At only 1.5 hours north of Helena, I figured I would make it a day trip and not sacrifice what I had been looking forward to. Also, one of Montana's two Sam's Clubs are there so naturally, I wanted the cheaper gas.

Turns out, the falls part of Great Falls are not so great. There are multiple controlled dams several miles apart on the Missouri River and none of them were really flowing heartily. What made the experience even worse was that though they are all on the same river, they are not connected by any one road route.

One of the other reasons I wanted to make the trip up north was because I found out that in a hotel in downtown Great Falls there is a mermaid bar. Behind the bar at a tiki lounge is a big glass window overlooking a pool where a mermaid swims, engages the audience and does tricks. It was quite mesmerizing to watch her hair and tail floating softly in the water. People couldn't take their eyes off of her. I have never been anywhere like that. If you ever find yourself in this part of the world, I say forget trying to see all the falls and just head there.
